Winter ShinyLAN 2012

Postby davidsmith » Thu Apr 12, 2012 1:24 pm

Planning ahead to the last LAN of the year, we have some options and I thought we'd have a shiny poll to see what we'd all prefer to do.

So the options include the usual post-Christmas/pre-NYE period running from the 27th-30th (72 hours), another 72 hour period BEFORE Christmas, 21st-24th (including Christmas Eve if we want it), or possibly a shorter, 48 hour LAN in November: 16th-18th.

For the two December options we can choose to use Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, and we can choose to run a shorter LAN, 48 hours.

Oh, and if we don't expect good numbers we'll probably go for 48 hours in any case. So it's in everyone's interest to vote, signup and TURN up!

getting to LAN on boxing day is a bitch. Fortunately I was able to abuse the kindness of Bish last time!

I'm with the same dates as Noodle.

Just before Christmas sucks because I'll feel guilty about not seeing my family (i.e. I'll still come but... :P)

November is so outlandish I'm just going to ignore it!

27th-30th December (72 hours, excl. Boxing Day)

^^^^^^ Happy with either.

Why isn't a date AND Boat Race an option? :P

But yeah, the boxing day ones would be ideal.

Starting Boxing Day for me. But let's be honest, I'll be there no matter which dates it is.

Boxing day would be a royal pain in the arse for me, Ideally NOT over the Christmas period at all although if push comes to shove 27th onwards would be preferred!

heh - this seems to be tailor made for me :) I had to promise the lady wife that I wouldn't go to LANs over Christmas once the baby arrives, but if we can get dates != Christmas then /WIN :)

Do we know definite dates yet? I could really do with booking the time off work!

Edit: Just to add, please not November. My sister's wedding is sometime around then.

Its in the works at the moment. I think the poll results speak for themselves though.

Indeed we are most definitely going with the majority vote, the Hall is reserved for us as far as I am aware so we'll probably do some kind of official announcement at some point very soon and make signup live just before the summer LAN so we can hassle everyone to signup and pay in person on the spot (big stick anyone?).

POST LOCKED

The results opted very heavily for a 72 hour event starting on 27th December. Hall is now booked and signups will open during the Summer Event to avoid confusion!
